MyPoints.com, Inc. (ticker: MYPT, exchange: NASDAQ) News Release - 12-Dec-2000

MyPoints.com, DNP Announce the Launch of MyPoints Japan

SAN FRANCISCO and TOKYO, Dec. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- MyPoints.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: MYPT), the Internet's leading loyalty marketer, and Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP), Japan's leading supplier of publishing and direct marketing services, today announced the launch of MyPoints(R) Japan (www.mypoint.com).

Designed to serve the fast-growing Japanese Internet market, the program is a localized version of the successful U.S.-based Internet marketing program, MyPoints(R). Through the MyPoints(R) Japan program, Japanese advertisers have the opportunity to give consumers a tangible incentive to read and respond to targeted opt-in email and shop online. MyPoints(R) Japan expects its membership base to reach nearly one million by the close of 2001.

"MyPoints(R) Japan gives MyPoints.com a presence in one of the largest and fastest growing Internet advertising markets in the world," said Noah Doyle, vice president of international development. "Like our other sister program, MyPoints Europe, MyPoints Japan effectively leverages our investment in technology and our expertise in running the Internet's leading loyalty marketing program."

"The launch of MyPoints(R) Japan gives DNP the opportunity to build on our relationships with leading Japanese advertisers at a time when they are particularly open to the advantages offered by marketing online," added Kensuke Nakamura, president of MyPoints(R) Japan. "We anticipate that marketing the MyPoints way-rewarding consumers to interact with targeted, opt-in offers by email and on the Web-will prove to be a very successful model in Japan."

The program's charter advertisers include some of Japan's most popular online and offline brands, such as Alpen, a sports specialty retailer; Famima.com, the online presence of Family Mart, one of Japan's largest convenience store chains; Fancl, a leading Japanese cosmetics and health products maker; and Gpara.com, an online game distribution site.

MyPoints Japan members will be able to redeem their points with many popular retailers and service providers, including the Japanese post office; Daiei, one of Japan's largest general merchandise store; JTB, Japan's largest travel agency; Ticket Pia, Japan's leading ticket distributor; UC Card, a leading issuer of consumer credit; and Wacoal, one of the Japan's largest manufacturers of women's clothing.

MyPoints(R) Japan, a joint venture between MyPoints.com and DNP, is designed to take advantage of Japan's fast-growing Internet advertising market, which is expected to reach more than $2.6 billion by 2003, according to industry analysts. MyPoints(R) Japan leverages the technology and marketing protocols developed by MyPoints.com as well as DNP's nationwide sales force and client base of thousands of Japanese direct marketers.

MyPoints Japan marks MyPoints.com's second branded international launch this year, following the Company's launch of MyPoints Europe -- a joint venture between MyPoints.com and The Great Universal Stores, P.L.C.
